toes

As human beings, we are all part of the body of God and are connected in one way or another. This is why everyone must value relationships and be mindful of how we treat others. The toes you are comfortably stepping on today may be connected to a lip you would love to kiss tomorrow. The one on whose fingers you shut the door on today might be linked to someone who has to open a door for the biggest opportunity of your life tomorrow.

Personally I have fallen victim to what I am writing on today. There are a couple of people I have had encounters with in the past, who have been a blessing to my life today, and there are a few which left me a scar of regret.

One of such encounters was with an organization whose web portal I developed and managed. Along the line, they decided to part company with me. I found out they engaged someone else for the same service but did not pay fully for the services I rendered to them. I was hurt and decided to wash hands off their project. Months on, the boss of the organization approached me for account details of a portal which was no longer under my care and control.

I ignored him and he threatened me with the police. This made me mad and I urged him to please himself. I blocked all communications between us after a heated argument and moved on. A year on, I was invited to speak on "RELATIONSHIPS" at a programme. When I got to the high table, lo and behold there was the boss of this organization I had a bad time with, as the chairperson for the function.

You can imagine how I felt. I wish I could undo the last words we exchanged before I blocked him. I felt bad and admitted I had a bad day at that time but not a bad heart. I also used the occasion to apologize to him.

Imagine if I wasn't married and the woman I was so much in love with and wanted to settle down with was this man's niece? Imagine if he was the head teacher of the school my child wanted to attend?

The lesson I learnt from that meeting was that, the future is always unknown and I must not burn bridges between me and people I don't know if I might need one day. I learnt to be kind with my actions and words no matter the situation I find myself in, for that is the only thing I will never regret.

Your case might not be like mine, she could be the only person you love and want to be with, but your relationship with someone in the past who is connect to your loved one could ruin this happiness.

Someone might not like you today, might hate you or turn you down due to how you related to people connected to them in the past. It could be a business, career, marriage, etc.

To avoid such, be a good sower, make sure you only sow what is good, so one day you will enjoy a good harvest. When something hurts you, the best to do is to observe. Remember life is teaching you something you need to learn from.

In conclusion "At the same time, don't be callous in your exercise of freedom, thoughtlessly stepping on the toes of those who aren't as free as you are" - 1 Corinthians 10:32 (MSG).

Please share with your friends, someone out there needs this.
