Love Does Not Hurt

A bad cook can make you lose appetite for a very delicious meal; a bad customer service can make you lose interest in a great product. In the same way a wrong person can make you think love hurts. In actual fact, love doesn't hurt, love heals, love gives life, love makes you smile, love makes you beautiful, love touches lives, making love the greatest of all things.

Love is the only thing that has the power to cover up for all the pains and make us feel wonderful. Its not surprising when the bible says "Above all things, have unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins" - 1 Peter 4:8 (MEV).

It takes only love for anyone to give food to the hungry, house the homeless, give to the poor, pray for their enemies and marry the ugly. Love brings out God's presence in us to the world. To love means laying down your life for one another, putting down one's interest for another, humbling oneself to serve the other, putting one's leg into another's shoe, seeing things from another's point of view; to love means valuing someone just as you do yourself; placing the same value, worth and price you have on yourself on them. It means you are not better than them. To love means you don't put them down, but you lift them up.

Love is a land of happiness and not a lake of sorrows as others think. Love is an origin of smiles, not an ocean of tears as others perceive; it's a village of life and not a valley of death as people thought. Love is eternity and not an end of life as some say.

Our problem as men is, we pretend to love people. Some people look for love on the menu where it's not served. We fall in love with the wrong person and the effect we get is loneliness, rejection, confusion, hatred, anger and cheating; and we think love hurts. Don't get it twisted my dear. If you are in love and all what you get is hurt then it's not love.

When you find love, everything changes, even at your saddest moment in life, you still have a smile on your face, even at your confusion you still understand, even in your worst betrayal you still trust, even in pains you still love.

We never get tired of loving, we never stop loving, we just got tired of chasing after someone who never loved us, someone who couldn't see how much we cared about them. When that happens, have courage and let go of such a person. When the wrong person departs, it marks the arrival of a good person.

Expectations have been the cause of our heart breaks; when things don't go the way we want we get discouraged, disappointed, lose hope and focus; but you need to know there is one person who knows why these things happen, so instead of leaning on our own understanding, it is better we rely on Him, and that is God. When we do that, we will learn to accept the unacceptable, learn from events what we don't want to know and let go of people we think we can't live without.

By so doing, God rewards and blesses us beyond our expectations. That's where we are able to thank our Exes for pushing us away to the lives we deserve.

In conclusion "I pray that the Lord will guide you to be as loving as God and as patient as Christ" - 2 Thessalonians 3:5 (CEV).
